Whilst dense fog and hail prevailed in Troodos yesterday, visitors over the past weekend were presented with an enchanting white landscape. Visitors from all over the island were having great fun as a blanket of snow covered the mountain areas as shown in the video from CNA below.
Snow covered both the highest peaks and Troodos Square with a 10cm and 5cm covering respectively.
More snow was predicted for last night by Meteorological Officer, Matheos Papadakis. He noted, the temperature will fall significantly from Wednesday and it will remain at the same level until Friday. The temperature is expected to rise on Saturday, he added.
Troodos is the largest mountain range in Cyprus, located in roughly the center of the island. Troodos’ highest peak is Mount Olympus – also known as Chionistra – at 1,952 meters, which hosts four ski slopes.
