According to Eurostat, in Cyprus in 2015 there were 14 202 holdings cultivating  7781 hectares (ha) of vineyards, with an average area of 0.5 ha per holding.
Most of this area, to be exact 87.4%, was dedicated to high quality wine (or 6789 ha), of which 93.6% was under the protection of designation of origin (PDO) or protection of geographical indications (PGI).
