The met office has issued a yellow weather warning from 2pm Sunday until 10am Monday for heavy rains that could exceed 55mm in 24 hours.
The morning is expected to be partly cloudy with isolated showers, mainly in the west and north but by afternoon these could turn to prolonged and intense thunderstorms in some areas.
Snow is expected to fall on the Troodos mountains.
Temperatures will drop to 7C inland, around 11C along the coast and 1C in the higher mountains.
