Around two thousand extra beds will be available this summer in the tourist resorts of free Famagusta.
According to data from the Famagusta Tourism Development Board, this summer in the tourist resorts of the region, around two thousand more beds than in 2018 will be available to tourists.
The director of the Famagusta Tourism Development Board, Lakis Avraamides, explained that the increase in the number of tourist beds is due to the operation of newly built hotels in addition to a series of extensions and upgrades made to existing units.
Ayia Napa, Protaras & Pernera have seen a marked increase in recent years in the number of new hotels and refurbishment of existing units.
Speaking with Politis, Mr Avraamides noted that the first hotels, restaurants & bars have reopened in Ayia Napa and by the end of this month most of the hotels in the region are expected to be open.
Deputy tourism minister Savvas Perdios recently stated that the goal for this year’s tourist season is to remain at the high levels recorded last year. 2018 saw record tourist arrivals to Cyprus of almost four million, whilst revenues reached €2.7 billion.
