The met office issued a yellow weather alert on Wednesday in effect from 3pm until Thursday 3am.
“Local heavy thunderstorms are likely. Precipitation rate may exceed 35 millimetres per hour,” met officer Michalis Mouskos announced.
Isolated storms are expected in the west and north initially, but will move into other areas later.
