Pupils of the Paphos Apostolos Pavlos high school together with members of research centre Akti and the Peyia municipality on Wednesday collected 16 kilos of rubbish at Coral Bay beach.
Of the rubbish the children collected, separated and recorded, 65 to 70 per cent were cigarettes, which contain microplastics, followed by straws, lids from plastic bottles, earbuds and plastic bags.
